Priyal Thakkar is a family law practitioner with experience in divorce, custody and allocation issues, drafting of prenuptial agreements, mediation, and appellate practice. Priyal graduated from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, where she was the International Rule of Law & Security Fellow. During law school, Priyal worked on cases in multiple jurisdictions–including Nigeria, Timor-Leste, Kenya, South Africa, Sierra Leone, and India. Before law school, she worked as a Research Associate for the Centre for Equity Studies and the Centre for Social Justice, where she published several papers and edited the 2018 Child Rights Manual to train paralegals in centers across India.

Before joining Hurst, Robin, Kay & Allen, Priyal clerked for Chief Judge David B. Gass at the Arizona Court of Appeals. Priyal is also licensed in Arizona and can speak fluent Hindi, Gujarati, and Urdu. A published poet, Priyal also co-founded a poetry organization where she taught survivors of abuse how to use poetry as a tool for reclaiming narratives and in partnership with Teach for India, led poetry workshops for under-resourced students.
